Klášterka as the Petřín of Benešov
The Kláštěrka park in Benešov, like the Petřín park in Prague, is situated on a slope that strongly defines the town. The cherry orchard that characterises both parks is, of course, an analogy. These similarities were not unnoticed and the aim of the project is to make the neglected Klášterka in Benešov as iconic and popular as the Petřín in Prague.
Defining the entrances to the park, whether existing or newly designed, became a priority in the design of Klášterka. The entrances are followed by a hierarchically ordered road network that serves the city’s natural pedestrian routes. The pedestrian routes also form a walking circuit. A small park plaza under the tree canopy has been created in the connection to the city. One of the children’s playgrounds is located near this area. The activities in the park are designed so that the park has something to offer all users. The play elements and activities in the park are designed for both smaller and larger children. The greenery continues the tradition of the parish garden with its cherry orchard and the phenomenon of the transition of the town into the countryside through the sunken gardens.
